10 Nov Ugh
What. A. Week.
My grandfather has been in the hospital all week. We thought he had a stroke, but the doctors ruled that out. He was released Thursday afternoon, but he had another spell within 10 minutes of being home. He is stable now, but the doctors are scratching their heads a bit. Seems to run in the family. We think that it has to do with his blood pressure. He’ll be inpatient over the weekend. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.
A cold/respiratory virus that has hit all four of us to varying degrees. Audrey’s on an inhaler, and I’m on antibiotics with a cough so deep that I think I pulled a back muscle. Keegan is drippy but so far holding his own. Gray got off the lightest it seems but is still stuffy.
I have a lovely case of Achilles tendonitis that has sidelined my running since Sunday. It’s actually been nagging me for a few months but got the best of me recently. Saw a podiatrist today. Steroids, a few more days of rest, ice, and stretching. Hoping that 8 days off won’t harm my readiness for the half marathon in one month.
The drug used for Keegan’s monthly nebulized treatment for prevention of pneumonia is unavailable after the tainted steroid situation. His team of doctors finally decided on a daily oral drug that can substitute temporarily. There is a a risk that this drug could in an of itself could cause a flare, but the risk of developing this opportunistic type of pneumonia is greater. He got the first dose last night after dinner. Threw up his dinner, in its entirety, this morning when he woke up. We shifted the dose to the early afternoon. So far, so good. Labs looked pretty good today, so we are hopeful that things will stay kosher over the weekend.
Sorry for the short post, but as you can see, it’s been a heck of week. Hope yours has been better!
